Suntory to Acquire Beam

Post by Stefan Van Eycken, Tokyo

It's just been announced that Suntory Holdings will be acquiring Beam. As we reported before, Suntory's interest in Beam was an open secret. Now that a definitive agreement has been reached, Suntory will be occupying a global leadership position (#3 to be precise) in premium spirits across key categories. As far as whisky is concerned, this means that - in addition to their Japanese whisky portfolio and Bowmore - they will have some of the most prominent bourbons (Jim Beam, Maker's Mark and Knob Creek), Canadian Club whisky and... Laphroaig under their wings. Exciting times at Suntory.

For a more detailed report, check out this press release on the Beam Global website.
